Today was the first day at my new job. My position at the company is web coordinator. Basically, web coordinatiors administer a company's website keeping the content and up-to-date. But my roll at work is to do a wide range of things regarding online contents.
今日は転職先の出勤初日でした。「ウェブコーディネーター」というポジションです。ウェブコーディネーターは基本的に会社のウェブサイトの運営を行います。ただし私のその会社での役割はウェブ系を仕事を幅広く扱います。
I am not an expert on web contents, but can manage it. However, I don't have almost zero knowledge of how to use Excel. I can't write Excel formats. So, when my boss found it out, he fumed.
ウェブコンテンツのスペシャリストではありませんが、たいていのことはこなせます。しかしことエクセルに関してはほとんど無知です。上司がそのことにきづいたとき、めっちゃ怒りました。
I am not sure whether Excel is going to be still a vital skill in the coming future, but it won't take much time to get hold of it, and it might be also required in other companies, I will learn it.
正直、エクセルが近い将来に必須のスキルのままあり続けるかと言うと疑問です。ただ理解するのにそこまで時間かからなそうだし、他の会社でも求められることもあるだろうから学ぼうかなという感じ。
So, I god scolded, or more like resented, and then got scared of asking anything else afterwards. And since then I assumed how to get tasks done. That was a horrible choice.
とにかく、怒られて、というより憤慨された結果、何を聞くのも億劫になってしまいました。そして与えられてタスクのこなし方を推測する様になってしまったのですが、これが酷かった。
When he realised that I was doing tasks the way he didn't want, he got angry and said "this is stupid" over and over again. Perhaps, "stupid" is too strong a word, but I should admit I should've asked him for instructions. I would've got told off even if I had seeked his advice, though.
やって欲しい通りにやっていないと気づいた時、上司は怒って「そりゃバカだよ」と連呼しました。「バカ」は少し言い過ぎな気もしましたが、ただ意見を求めるべきでした。意見を求めても怒られたでしょうが。
At the end of the first day, he said to me, "You're like a rookie. So you have to learn from scratch." I totally agree. Some abusive comments aside, I should agree that I must get getter at this.
仕事を終えたあと、「まあ新卒だよね。１から学ばないと」と言われました。納得です。ひどい言葉遣いはさておき、もっと仕事をこなせる様にならないと、とは思います。
But why did he decide to hire me? That's probably because I speak English quite fluently. Without it, I wouldn't be considered. So I will definitely continue honing my English.
でもなんで彼は私を雇ったのでしょう。多分英語が流暢に話せるから。英語がなかったら箸にも棒にもかからないでしょう。だから英語スキルを磨くことはやめません！

fume は乗り物から出る煙。頭から煙が湧いてるイメージです。 - in the coming future 「近い将来」
「来たる将来」って感じです。 - get hold of ~ 「〜を理解する」
「〇〇ホールド」ってプロレス技でよくあります。「〜を掴む！」感じ。 - over and over again 「何度も」
「ゲームオーバー」の over 。 「終わって、終わって、終わって、、、」→「何度も」 - rookie 「新人」
「ルーキー」はスポーツ用語っぽいですが、英語では新人全般を指します。
